About us: Doc Film supports applied research initiatives and critical discourse, from large-scale grants relating to documentation to conferences on the documentary tradition. Doc Film also supports projects in all phases of production that provide a deeper introspection of a wide range of sociocultural topics that support the charter of Doc Film and SF State’s mission. Dialogue, cooperation, and support among its partners across campus and in the community guide Doc Film’s activities and primary objective to make SF State and the San Francisco Bay Area a center for excellence in documentary film production, culture, exhibition, and research.
Terms of Internships: Fall 2017, meeting weekly. 120 hours to be completed during semester for 3-units of credit under supervision of Doc Film Director, Soumyaa Behrens and Associate Director, Robert Barbarino. Schedule TBD based on availability.

Production / Post-Production Intern (1-2 openings)
Description of Internship: Work on various SFSU and Bay Area documentaries / video projects: editing, shooting, sound recording, archiving, transcribing as well as distribution, marketing and budgeting. Work directly with Doc Film staff on various producing projects. Coordination and assistance with production of inaugural Non-Fiction Conference, Pluralities. Applicants should have experience with Final Cut, Premiere Pro and should know their way around a Mac as well as basic lighting and camera. Applicants that enjoy fast paced working environments and are willing to take initiative, think on their own are encouraged to apply.

Production / Producing Intern (1 opening)
Focus on Non-Fiction Journal/Conference – Pluralities
Description of Internship: Work directly with Doc Film staff on various producing projects. Coordination and assistance with production of inaugural Non-Fiction Conference, Pluralities. Work directly with Doc Film staff on research and development of a new non-fiction film journal and conference. Producing duties related to DocFilm productions would include tasks related to licensing and distribution of films. Students with a passion for Documentary Film are strongly encouraged to apply. Students must have strong verbal and written communication skills and strong Word, Excel and PowerPoint abilities. Applicants that enjoy fast paced working environments and are willing to take initiative, think on their own are encouraged to apply.
